3620. Interim Policy
This policy was adopted under the interim policymaking provisions of the University's Policy on Policies on January 29, 2026. Information about this policy change, and any proposals for further policymaking can be accessed at the University Policy website. Students and employees may submit comments on those proposals through the Proposed Policy Change Comment Form.
3620.1 Requirements for Earning an Associate Degree (AS, AA)
To graduate with an Associate Degree from Wright State University, all students must fulfill the following requirements:
- Credit Hours - A minimum of 60 semester hours must be earned in approved courses.
- Wright State Core and OT36 Requirements - Associate of Arts and Associate of Science programs will require completing the Wright State Core with Ohio Transfer 36 (OT36) approved courses.
- Major Requirements - Major requirements as listed in the catalog for each degree program must be completed.
- Grade Point Average - A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 must be earned for courses taken at Wright State University.
- Residence Regulations - A minimum of 15 semester hours must be earned at Wright State University. Prior learning assessments, credit by examination, or transfer credit will not be considered as residency credit.
3620.2 Requirements for Earning Technical or Applied Degrees (AAB, AAS, ATS, BTAS)
To graduate with an applied degree from Wright State University, all students must fulfill the following requirements:
- Credit Hours - A minimum of 60 semester hours must be earned in approved courses for an applied Associate Degree, and 120 for a Bachelor's Degree.
- Wright State Core and OT36 Requirements - Associate Degree programs will require a minimum of 15 hours of general education in OT36 approved requirements for the degree, including English and Math. Bachelor of Technical and Applied Science (BTAS) programs require 36 hours of coursework in the Wright State Core.
- Major Requirements - Major requirements, as listed in the catalog for each degree program, must be completed.
- Grade Point Average - A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 must be earned for courses taken at Wright State University.
- Residence Regulations - A minimum of 15 semester hours for an Associate Degree, and 30 for a Bachelor's Degree, must be earned at Wright State University. Prior learning assessments, credit by examination, or transfer credit will not be considered residence credit.
3620.3 Requirements for Earning a Bachelor's Degree
To graduate with a Bachelor's Degree from Wright State University, all students must fulfill the following requirements:
- Credit Hours - A minimum of 120 semester hours must be earned in approved courses.
- Wright State Core - The program requirements for the Wright State Core must be completed
- College Requirements - All requirements for the college into which the student has been admitted must be completed.
- Major Requirements - Major requirement, as listed in the catalog for each degree program, must be completed.
- Integrated Writing (IW) - The IW course requirements for both the Wright State Core and the Major must be completed.
- Grade Point Average - A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 must be earned for courses taken at Wright State University.
- Residence Regulations - A minimum of 30 semester hours must be earned at Wright State University. Prior learning assessments, credit by examination, or transfer credit will not be considered as residency credit. A minimum of 20 semester hours of courses numbered 3000 or above must be earned at Wright State.
3620.4 Additional Requirements and Recommendations
Students must also fulfill any other program requirements set by departments, colleges, and schools, some of which may exceed these university minimums; see individual program requirements for details. Academic advisors in colleges and schools are available for information and guidance in formulating programs of study.
