Independent Study

4180.1 Independent Study

An Independent Study is an individualized, faculty-supervised learning experience not otherwise represented by regular curricular offerings.  The terms of an independent study (e.g., number and length of meetings, assigned readings, parameters for projects, forms of assessment and their relative weights) are determined by a contract, between the student and a faculty member, that has been approved at the program or department level before the student registers and is consistent with the number of credit hours and grading system associated with the course number and name under which independent studies are offered in the program in question.
